ἐνθάδε κ[ε]ῖμ[αι Mέ]νανδρος ἐγώ, φίλοι,ἡδὺ βιώσας / καὶ πολλοῖς μεταδούς, ἐν πᾶ –σι βροτοῖσι φιληθείς· / ταῦτα δὲ σοί, γαμετή, ἐν –τέλλομαι · / τύμβον μου ποιῆσαι καὶ γράμμασι ταῦτ᾿ ἐπιγράψαι.Ἡδονὴ Mενάνδρῳ τῷ ἀνδρὶ καὶ Mένανδρος τῷ πατρὶ ἐκ τῶν ἐκείνουκαὶ αὑτοῖς ζῶντες· καθὼς ἐνετείλατο.

Hier liege ich, Menandros, der ich, Freunde,süß gelebt habe und vielen mich mitteilte, unter allenSterblichen geliebt. Dies aber heiße ich dir,Gattin: mein Grab anfertigen und dies mit Buchstaben daraufschreiben zu lassen:Hedone für Menandros, den Mann, und Menandros für den Vater, aus dessen (Vermögen),und für sich selbst, zu Lebzeiten, so wie er es hieß.
